Margaritis Schinas

Margaritis Schinas, born on July twenty-eighth, nineteen sixty-two, is a prominent Greek politician and jurist. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Minister for Rural Development and Food in the second cabinet of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. His extensive career in public service reflects a deep commitment to both national and European interests.

Before his current role, Schinas served as the vice-president of the Von der Leyen Commission, where he was responsible for the portfolio of European Commissioner for Promoting our European Way of Life from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-four. His tenure in this position underscored his dedication to enhancing the European identity and values.

A member of the New Democracy party, Schinas has a rich history in European politics. He was a Member of the European Parliament from two thousand seven to two thousand nine and later took on the role of chief spokesperson for the European Commission from two thousand fourteen to two thousand nineteen. Additionally, he served as the deputy director-general of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communication during the same period.
