Margitta Pufe, born on 10 September 1952 in Gera, Thuringia, is a distinguished German track athlete renowned for her prowess in shot put and discus throw. Competing for the German Democratic Republic from the mid-1970s to 1980, she established herself as one of the world's elite athletes in her disciplines.
Her most notable achievement came during the 1980 Summer Olympic Games in Moscow, where she proudly secured a bronze medal in shot put, marking a pinnacle in her athletic career. Pufe began her journey in sports with SC Motor Jena, training under the guidance of Ingrid Kleppe, which laid the foundation for her future successes.
