Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Margrethe II

Margrethe II, born on April sixteenth, nineteen forty, is a distinguished member of the Danish royal family who ascended to the throne as Queen of Denmark on January fourteenth, nineteen seventy-two. Her reign, which lasted for an impressive fifty-two years, makes her the second-longest-reigning monarch in Danish history, following Christian IV.

Born into the House of Glücksburg during the reign of her grandfather, King Christian X, Margrethe is the eldest daughter of King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid, a Swedish princess. In nineteen fifty-three, a pivotal constitutional amendment allowed her to become the heir presumptive to the throne, paving the way for her future role as queen. In nineteen sixty-seven, she married Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, and together they welcomed two sons, Frederik and Joachim.

Throughout her reign, Margrethe has not only fulfilled her royal duties but has also made significant contributions as a scenographer, costume designer, and illustrator, notably for the works of J. R. R. Tolkien. Her popularity and the support for the monarchy in Denmark grew steadily, reaching around eighty percent by the time of her abdication on January fourteenth, twenty twenty-four. Upon her abdication, she was succeeded by her elder son, Frederik X.
