Maria Francisca of Savoy

Maria Francisca of Savoy, born on June twenty-first, sixteen forty-six, was a prominent figure in Portuguese royalty. She first ascended to the role of queen when she married King Dom Afonso VI on August second, sixteen sixty-six, at the tender age of twenty. However, their marriage was never consummated, leading to an annulment on March twenty-eighth, sixteen sixty-eight.

Following her annulment, Maria Francisca married Infante Dom Peter, Duke of Beja, who was appointed prince regent the same year due to Afonso's perceived incompetence. This union marked a significant shift in her life, as she became queen once more when Peter succeeded his brother as King Dom Peter II.

Her second reign as queen was brief, lasting only three months until her untimely death in December of the same year. Despite the challenges she faced, Maria Francisca's life was marked by her resilience and adaptability within the tumultuous landscape of Portuguese monarchy.
