Maria Grollmuß

Maria Grollmuß, born on April 24, 1896, in Leipzig, was a remarkable figure in the fight against the oppressive Nazi regime. As a Catholic Sorbian publicist, she utilized her voice to advocate for social justice and resist totalitarianism. Her commitment to her beliefs was evident in her work as a teacher and journalist, where she inspired many through her writings and teachings.

In addition to her roles in education and journalism, Grollmuß was an active politician, engaging in the socialist movement. Her political activism was driven by a deep-seated desire to promote equality and human rights, making her a significant player in the resistance against the Nazis.

Grollmuß's courage and determination led her to become a resistance fighter, standing up against the injustices of her time. Unfortunately, her fight came to a tragic end when she was captured and ultimately perished in Ravensbrück on August 6, 1944. Her legacy, however, continues to inspire those who seek justice and equality.
