Maria Pietilä Holmner, born on July twenty-fifth, nineteen eighty-six, in Umeå, Sweden, is a retired alpine skier renowned for her expertise in slalom and giant slalom. She began her skiing journey at the tender age of seven, but her athletic prowess was not limited to skiing; she also excelled in football, playing as a forward for local girls' teams until she turned fifteen and chose to dedicate herself fully to skiing.

Her professional career took off when she made her World Cup debut in Sölden at just sixteen years old in October two thousand two. Pietilä Holmner quickly made a name for herself, clinching a gold medal at the 2006 World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships in slalom. Her first World Cup victory came in November two thousand ten at a slalom event in Aspen, marking the beginning of a successful career that included a total of two hundred seven World Cup starts and ten podium finishes, three of which were wins.

Throughout her career, she showcased her talent at the World Championships, earning five medals—two as an individual competitor and three in team events. Notably, she secured a silver medal in giant slalom in two thousand seven at Åre, Sweden, and two bronze medals in two thousand eleven at Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
