María Vento-Kabchi

María Vento-Kabchi, born on May 24, 1974, is a distinguished former professional tennis player from Venezuela. Throughout her career, she showcased remarkable talent on the court, achieving a career-high singles ranking of world No. 26 in July 2004. Vento-Kabchi's prowess was particularly evident in doubles, where she secured four WTA Tour titles.

Her journey in Grand Slam tournaments was highlighted by reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon in nineteen ninety-seven and again at the US Open in two thousand five. The latter was a memorable yet challenging match, where she faced the eventual champion, Kim Clijsters, and described the experience as akin to being 'run over by a truck.'

Initially competing under her maiden name, María Vento, she transitioned to María Vento-Kabchi after marrying lawyer Gamal Kabchi on July 21, 2001. This change marked a new chapter in her life, both personally and professionally.
