Marián Masný

Marián Masný, born on August thirteenth, nineteen fifty, is a distinguished former Slovak football player and coach. He made a significant impact on the field, representing Czechoslovakia in seventy-five matches and netting eighteen goals. His legacy is further enriched by the fact that his brother, Vojtech, also pursued a career in football.

Masný's international career was highlighted by his participation in the 1976 UEFA European Championship, where he contributed to Czechoslovakia's gold medal victory. He also played a key role in the 1980 UEFA European Championship, helping his team secure a third-place finish. His football journey began with amateur clubs Jednota Trenčin and Dukla Banska Bystrica before he transitioned to the professional realm with Slovan Bratislava. From nineteen sixty-eight to nineteen eighty-nine, Masný dedicated most of his career to Slovan Bratislava, with a brief stint at Petržalka before retiring in nineteen ninety.

Renowned for his skill, Kevin Keegan once described Masný as 'one of the world's most skilful wingers.' His remarkable talent was on full display during a European championship qualifying match in nineteen seventy-five, where he assisted both goals in a memorable two-one victory against Keegan's England team in Bratislava.
