Marie-Anne Gaboury

Marie-Anne Gaboury, born on August fifteenth, seventeen eighty, was a pioneering French-Canadian farmer who made her mark in history as a trailblazer in Western Canada.

Not only is she celebrated as the grandmother of the prominent Louis Riel, but she also holds the distinction of being the first woman of European descent to journey to and settle in what is now known as Western Canada.
