Marie Corridon

Marie Corridon, born on February fifth, nineteen thirty, in Washington, D.C., was an exceptional American swimmer who made her mark in the world of competitive swimming. Her family relocated to Norwalk, Connecticut, where her father established his medical practice, providing a nurturing environment for her burgeoning talent.

From a young age, Marie demonstrated a natural affinity for swimming, learning the sport at the tender age of five at the Longshore Club in Westport, Connecticut. Her dedication and skill quickly became evident, leading her to compete at high levels.

In nineteen forty-eight, she achieved remarkable success by becoming the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) national champion in the one hundred-yard freestyle, setting a new U.S. record in the process. Her prowess in the pool continued to shine as she clinched the national championship in the same event again in nineteen fifty, solidifying her status as one of the top swimmers of her time.
