Marie de Nemours

Marie de Nemours, born Marie d'Orléans-Longueville on March fifth, sixteen twenty-five, was a significant political figure in her time. As the daughter of Henri II d'Orléans, duc de Longueville, and Louise de Bourbon, she was steeped in the traditions of French nobility from an early age.

In sixteen ninety-four, following the death of her brother, Jean Louis Charles d'Orléans, Duke of Longueville, Marie ascended to the position of sovereign Princess of Neuchâtel. Her reign lasted until her death in seventeen oh seven, marking her as a pivotal leader during a transformative period in European history.

Despite her responsibilities in Neuchâtel, Marie remained an influential figure within the French royal court, navigating the complexities of court politics while maintaining her status as the last living member of the House of Valois through a cadet line. Her legacy is one of resilience and leadership in a male-dominated society.
