Marina Silva

Maria Osmarina Marina da Silva Vaz de Lima, widely known as Marina Silva, was born on February eighth, nineteen fifty-eight, in Brazil. A prominent figure in Brazilian politics, she has made significant contributions as a politician, trade unionist, and environmentalist. Currently, she serves as the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, a role she previously held from two thousand three to two thousand eight.

Marina's political journey began as a senator for the state of Acre, where she served from nineteen ninety-five until two thousand eleven. In two thousand three, she transitioned to the role of Minister of the Environment, advocating for sustainable practices and environmental protection. In two thousand twenty-three, she became a federal deputy for the state of São Paulo, continuing her commitment to public service.

Throughout her career, Marina has sought the presidency of Brazil on three occasions: in two thousand ten, two thousand fourteen, and two thousand eighteen. Her candidacy in two thousand ten as the Green Party's nominee garnered her third place with nineteen percent of the first-round vote. Following the tragic death of Eduardo Campos in a plane crash, she was selected as the Socialist Party's candidate in two thousand fourteen, achieving twenty-one percent of the vote.
