Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Marise Payne

Marise Payne, born on July twenty-ninth, nineteen sixty-four, is a distinguished Australian politician who served as a Senator for New South Wales from nineteen ninety-seven until twenty twenty-three, representing the Liberal Party. Her political journey is marked by significant milestones, including her tenure as Minister for Defence from two thousand fifteen to two thousand eighteen, and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from two thousand eighteen to twenty twenty-two.

Hailing from Sydney, Payne pursued her education at the University of New South Wales. She made history as the first woman to serve as federal president of the Young Liberals from nineteen eighty-nine to nineteen ninety-one. Appointed to the Senate in nineteen ninety-seven, she succeeded Bob Woods and was subsequently elected to a full term in two thousand, re-elected four more times thereafter.

Payne's ascent in politics saw her first included in the shadow ministry in two thousand seven. Following the Coalition's return to power in two thousand thirteen, she was appointed Minister for Human Services in the Abbott government. Her groundbreaking appointment as Minister for Defence under Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull made her the first woman to hold this prestigious position.

In August two thousand eighteen, after Turnbull's leadership transition to Scott Morrison, Payne took over the role of Minister for Foreign Affairs, succeeding Julie Bishop. She holds the distinction of being the longest-serving female senator in Australia's history. On September eighth, twenty twenty-three, she announced her resignation from the Senate, effective September thirtieth.
