Marius Lăcătuș

Marius Lăcătuș, born on April fifth, nineteen sixty-four, is a distinguished Romanian football manager and former player, celebrated for his remarkable contributions to the sport.

He is widely regarded as the most successful footballer in the history of Steaua București, having played a pivotal role in their European Cup triumph in nineteen eighty-six. Lăcătuș holds the record as the all-time top scorer for Steaua, netting sixteen goals in European competitions.

Throughout his career, he primarily played as a deep lying striker or inside forward, serving as the team's captain from nineteen ninety-four to nineteen ninety-nine. His impressive career also included stints with Italian club Fiorentina and Spanish side Real Oviedo.

In addition to his individual accolades, Lăcătuș is the most decorated player in the Romanian First League, boasting a record ten league titles. Following him in the all-time rankings are notable players such as Giedrius Arlauskis and Ciprian Deac, each with seven championships.

On July seventh, twenty twenty-one, CSA Steaua București honored his legacy by retiring his iconic shirt number seven during the inauguration match of the new Steaua Stadium.
