Mariya Pinigina

Mariya Pinigina, born on February ninth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished former Olympic athlete renowned for her prowess in the 400 metres. Training at Spartak in Kyiv, she represented the Soviet Union with great pride and skill.

Her most notable achievement came during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where she was a vital member of the Soviet relay team in the 4 × 400 metres. Alongside her teammates, including the silver medalist in the 400 m hurdles, Tatyana Ledovskaya, and the bronze medalist, Olga Nazarova, Pinigina helped secure a gold medal. The team set an astonishing world record of three minutes and fifteen point seventeen seconds, a record that remains unbeaten to this day.
