Marjory Shedd, born on March seventeenth, nineteen twenty-six, was a remarkable Canadian athlete whose prowess in badminton and volleyball set her apart in the sports world. From the early nineteen fifties to the early nineteen seventies, she dominated the badminton scene, amassing an impressive total of twenty-three Canadian National Championships. Her victories included six in singles, twelve in women's doubles, and five in mixed doubles, alongside several Canadian Open Championships between nineteen fifty-three and nineteen seventy-two.

Shedd's extraordinary achievements earned her the distinction of holding more badminton titles than any other Canadian in history. Among her notable accomplishments was her rare victory over the esteemed U.S. player Margaret Varner in singles competition during the late nineteen fifties. Additionally, she reached the semifinals of women's singles at the All England Championships, an event regarded as the unofficial world championship of badminton at the time.

Her contributions to the sport extended beyond her playing career; Shedd was a key member of six consecutive Canadian Uber Cup teams from nineteen fifty-six to nineteen seventy-two. A versatile athlete, she also played on two national championship basketball teams and represented Canada on several national volleyball teams.

In her later years, Shedd dedicated herself to coaching, leading the University of Toronto volleyball team from nineteen sixty-four to nineteen seventy-four and the U of T badminton team from nineteen seventy-three to nineteen ninety-one. Her remarkable career was recognized in nineteen seventy when she was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. Marjory Shedd passed away in two thousand eight and rests in Park Lawn Cemetery.
