Following this, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of British Columbia, which was complemented by a year of travel across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. His professional journey began in mineral exploration, primarily in British Columbia.

Hagemoen's spiritual path led him to St. Peter's Seminary in London, Ontario, where he earned a Masters of Divinity degree. He was ordained to the priesthood on May twelfth, nineteen ninety, by Bishop Lawrence Sabatini in Vancouver. His commitment to ministry continued as he completed the National Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies and the Diploma for Advanced Studies in Ministry in nineteen ninety-seven, followed by a Doctor of Ministry program at Trinity Western University, which he completed in two thousand seven.

From two thousand two to two thousand eleven, Hagemoen served as the Parish Priest at St. John the Apostle Parish in Vancouver's Kerrisdale neighbourhood.
