Mark Heese

Mark Heese, born on August 15, 1969, in Toronto, Ontario, is a distinguished Canadian male beach volleyball player. He began his journey in the sport at the age of nineteen at the Balmy Beach Club in Toronto, where his passion for beach volleyball flourished. A proud graduate of McMaster University, Heese showcased his talent on the court as a member of the Marauders volleyball team for four seasons from 1988 to 1992.

Heese's athletic career is marked by his impressive achievements as a three-time Olympian. He made his Olympic debut in 1996, where he and his partner John Child captured the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Their remarkable partnership continued as they secured fifth place in both the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics, demonstrating their consistent performance on the world stage.

In addition to his Olympic success, Heese is celebrated for his dominance in national competitions, having won the Canadian National Championship ten times. His victories include seven titles with John Child, one with Rich Van Huzien, and two with Ahren Cadieux, solidifying his status as one of Canada's top beach volleyball players.

On July 7, 1996, in Berlin, Germany, Heese and Child achieved a significant milestone by winning their first FIVB International Open tournament, triumphing over the Brazilian duo Para and Marques. This victory marked the beginning of a successful international career that would further elevate Heese's profile in the sport.
