Mark Jackson

Mark A. Jackson, born on April 1, 1965, is a distinguished American former professional basketball player who made his mark as a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). His journey began at St. John's University, where he showcased his talent on the court, ultimately leading to his selection by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft, being the eighteenth overall pick.

Throughout his illustrious career, which spanned from nineteen eighty-seven to two thousand four, Jackson played for several teams, including the Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and Houston Rockets. His versatility and skill as a point guard earned him respect and recognition across the league.

After hanging up his sneakers, Jackson transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a prominent commentator for ESPN and ABC. He teamed up with his former coach Jeff Van Gundy and play-by-play announcer Mike Breen, bringing insightful analysis to basketball fans. Additionally, he served as an analyst for YES Network's New Jersey Nets games.

In two thousand eleven, Jackson took on the role of head coach for the Golden State Warriors, leading the team for three seasons. Under his guidance, the Warriors made consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in over two decades. However, in two thousand fourteen, he was let go from his coaching position. Following this, he returned to ESPN, continuing his career as a commentator until his departure in two thousand twenty-three.
