Mark Renaud, born on February twenty-first, nineteen fifty-nine, is a distinguished Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Renaud made his mark in the National Hockey League after being drafted in the fifth round, one hundred and second overall, by the Hartford Whalers during the nineteen seventy-nine NHL Entry Draft.
Throughout his NHL career, Renaud showcased his skills on the ice, playing for both the Hartford Whalers and the Buffalo Sabres. Over the course of one hundred and fifty-two games, he scored six goals and contributed fifty assists, demonstrating his ability to support his team both defensively and offensively.
Beyond his own achievements, Renaud's legacy continues through his son, Mickey, who was born in nineteen eighty-eight and tragically passed away in two thousand eight. Mickey served as the captain of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires and was a draft pick for the Calgary Flames in the two thousand seven NHL Entry Draft. In honor of Mickey's leadership and work ethic, the OHL has established an annual award recognizing the captain who embodies these qualities while enjoying the game of hockey.
