Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Mark Thatcher

Mark Thatcher, born on August 15, 1953, is an English entrepreneur and accomplished racing automobile and rally driver. He is the son of Margaret Thatcher, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, and Sir Denis Thatcher, 1st Baronet. Mark has a sister, Carol Thatcher, and his family background has often influenced public perception of his business ventures.

Throughout his early career, Mark faced scrutiny regarding his business dealings, particularly concerning the Al-Yamamah arms deal, which led to allegations that he was leveraging his mother's political position for personal gain. In 1986, he relocated from the UK and has since resided in various countries, including the United States, Switzerland, Monaco, South Africa, Gibraltar, Barbados, Guernsey, and Spain.

In 2003, The Sunday Times estimated his wealth at sixty million pounds, much of which was believed to be held in offshore accounts. However, his financial dealings have not been without controversy; in 2005, he was convicted in South Africa for funding the attempted coup in Equatorial Guinea and received a four-year suspended prison sentence along with a fine.

Mark has two children from his first marriage to Diane Burgdorf. He later married Sarah-Jane Russell (née Clemence) in 2008. Following the death of his father in 2003, he inherited the title of Sir Mark Thatcher and succeeded to the Thatcher baronetcy, a hereditary title that was uniquely bestowed upon his father in 1990.
