Renowned for his multifaceted talents, he serves as a bass guitarist, singer, guitarist, songwriter, composer, and author. His musical journey has captivated audiences worldwide, particularly through his work with the symphonic metal band Nightwish.

As a former bassist and male vocalist for Nightwish, Hietala played a crucial role alongside Tuomas Holopainen, contributing significantly to the band's unique sound and success.
