Markus Thormeyer

Markus Thormeyer, born on August 25, 1997, is a distinguished Canadian swimmer renowned for his prowess in freestyle and backstroke events. Hailing from Delta, he made a significant move in 2015 to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he dedicated himself to training at the High Performance Centre-Vancouver after completing his high school education.

In addition to his athletic commitments, Thormeyer pursued academic excellence by enrolling at the University of British Columbia. There, he studied environmental science at the undergraduate level, showcasing his dedication not only to sports but also to understanding and preserving the natural world.

In September 2021, Thormeyer took a significant step in his academic journey by commencing a PhD in zoology at UBC. This pursuit reflects his passion for science and his desire to contribute to the field of zoology while balancing the demands of competitive swimming.
