Marlin Schmidt

Marlin Schmidt, born on October sixteenth, nineteen seventy-eight, is a prominent Canadian politician representing the electoral district of Edmonton-Gold Bar in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He first entered the political arena during the 2015 Alberta general election and has since made significant contributions, including serving as the Minister of Advanced Education under the New Democratic Party (NDP) government led by Rachel Notley.

Before his political career, Schmidt dedicated over a decade to site remediation, specializing in soil and groundwater contamination. In July two thousand twenty, Schmidt faced criticism for remarks made in the Legislature regarding the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. His comments, made in opposition to a bill proposed by the governing United Conservative Party, were deemed inappropriate by the Speaker of the Legislature, leading him to withdraw his statements and issue an apology.
