Marshall Govindan, born in nineteen fifty-three, is a distinguished Kriya Yogi, writer, economist, auditor, and teacher of Kriya Yoga. He serves as the President of Babaji's Kriya Yoga and Publications, Inc., as well as the Babaji's Kriya Yoga Order of Archaryas, which comprises over twenty-five Kriya Yoga teachers across more than twenty countries, including ashrams in St. Etienne de Bolton, Quebec, Bangalore, India, Colombo, and Sri Lanka.
Since nineteen eighty-nine, Govindan has personally initiated over ten thousand individuals into Babaji's Kriya Yoga through a series of intensive sessions and retreats. His literary contributions, including the acclaimed works 'Kriya Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Siddhas' and 'The Wisdom of Jesus and the Yoga Siddhas,' explore the interconnected wisdom of Patañjali, Tirumular, the Tamil Yoga Siddhas, and Jesus, revealing profound insights into these spiritual traditions.
In the year two thousand, he launched the Yoga Siddha Research Project in Tamil Nadu, directing a team of six scholars dedicated to preserving and translating the literary works of the eighteen Tamil Yoga Siddhas from ancient palm leaf manuscripts. This initiative has brought to light significant texts on Yoga, Tantra, monistic theism, and Siddha philosophy, previously unknown to the English-speaking world. The project culminated in the first English translation with commentary of the 'Tirumandiram,' a sacred text of immense importance in the realm of Yoga.
Govindan's contributions to the field of Yoga have been widely recognized. In two thousand eight, he was honored with the title of 'Yoga Acharya' by the Federation Francophone of Yoga and became one of only thirty-nine 'Lifetime members of the World Yoga Council.' His dedication was further acknowledged in Chennai, India, on January seventeenth, two thousand ten. Additionally, he received the prestigious 'Patanjali Award' in two thousand fourteen for his outstanding service to Yoga, adding his name to a distinguished list of recipients since nineteen eighty-six.
