Martha of Denmark

Martha of Denmark, originally named Margrete, was born in the year 1277. She was the daughter of King Eric V of Denmark and the sister of King Eric VI, which placed her in a prominent position within the royal lineage of Scandinavia.

Her marriage to King Birger of Sweden elevated her status to that of Queen, where she became known as Märta. Throughout her life, she wielded significant political influence, playing a crucial role in the dynamics of the Swedish court.

Martha was an important figure in notable historical events such as the Håtuna games and the Nyköping Banquet, where her presence and actions left a lasting impact on the political landscape of her time.
