Martín Alonso Pinzón

Martín Alonso Pinzón, born in the year fourteen forty-one, was a prominent Spanish mariner and navigator, renowned for his pivotal role in the Age of Exploration. As the eldest of the Pinzón brothers, he carved a significant path in maritime history, showcasing his skills not only as a sailor but also as a shipbuilder.

In fourteen ninety-two, Martín made history by serving as the captain of the Pinta during Christopher Columbus's first voyage to the New World. This expedition marked a turning point in global exploration, and Martín's leadership on the Pinta was instrumental in the journey's success.

His brothers also played crucial roles in this historic voyage; Vicente Yáñez Pinzón captained the Niña, while Francisco Martín Pinzón served as the maestre, or first mate, aboard the Pinta. Together, the Pinzón brothers contributed significantly to the exploration of uncharted territories, leaving a lasting legacy in maritime history.
