Martin Beaver

Martin Beaver, born on November tenth, nineteen sixty-seven, is a distinguished Canadian violinist and music educator. He gained prominence as the first violinist of the Tokyo String Quartet, a role he held from two thousand two until the ensemble's final season in two thousand thirteen. During his tenure, he performed on the exquisite Paganini-Comte Cozio di Salabue violin, crafted circa seventeen twenty-seven, which was generously loaned from the Nippon Music Foundation, part of the prestigious Paganini Quartet collection of Antonio Stradivari instruments.

Currently, Beaver showcases his artistry on a violin made by Nicolò Bergonzi. His commitment to music extends beyond performance; he is a faculty member at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, where he nurtures the next generation of musicians. His passion for chamber music and solo performances keeps him actively engaged in the music community.

In two thousand thirteen, Beaver co-founded the Montrose Trio alongside pianist Jon Kimura Parker and cellist Clive Greensmith. This ensemble reflects his dedication to collaborative music-making and his desire to explore diverse musical expressions.
