Martin of Aragon

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Martin of Aragon

Martin the Humane, born on the twenty-ninth of July in the year one thousand three hundred fifty-six, was a prominent ruler in the late medieval period. He held the titles of King of Aragon, Valencia, Sardinia, and Corsica, as well as Count of Barcelona from the year one thousand three hundred ninety-six. His reign was marked by a commitment to governance that earned him the moniker 'the Humane.'

In addition to his extensive rule over the Iberian Peninsula, Martin also became King of Sicily in the year one thousand four hundred nine, adopting the title Martin II. His leadership was characterized by efforts to maintain stability and order within his diverse realms.

Despite his many accomplishments, Martin faced significant challenges, particularly in securing the future of his lineage. He struggled to ensure the accession of his illegitimate grandson, Frederic, Count of Luna. This failure marked a pivotal moment, as it signified the end of the rule of the House of Barcelona.
