Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Martin Schulz

Martin Schulz, born on December twentieth, nineteen fifty-five, is a prominent German politician, bookseller, and non-fiction writer. His political career spans over two decades, during which he served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from nineteen ninety-four to twenty seventeen, and later as a Member of the Bundestag (MdB) from twenty seventeen to twenty twenty-one.

Schulz held significant leadership roles, including serving as the Leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats from two thousand four to two thousand twelve, and as the President of the European Parliament from two thousand twelve to two thousand seventeen. In two thousand seventeen, he took on the role of Leader of the Social Democratic Party, a position he held until two thousand eighteen.

In November two thousand sixteen, Schulz made the pivotal decision not to pursue a third term as President of the European Parliament, opting instead to run as the SPD candidate for the German Chancellorship in the upcoming elections. Following the announcement by Sigmar Gabriel in January two thousand seventeen that he would not seek re-election, Schulz was recommended as his successor.

After the elections in September two thousand seventeen, which marked a postwar low for the SPD, Schulz declared the end of the Grand coalition under Angela Merkel and declined to serve in a government led by her. On February seventh, two thousand eighteen, after coalition talks concluded, he was set to succeed Gabriel as Foreign Minister but ultimately decided against joining the new cabinet. Just days later, on February thirteenth, he stepped down as party chair.
