Martin Škrtel

Martin Škrtel, born on December fifteenth, nineteen eighty-four, is a distinguished Slovak former professional footballer renowned for his role as a centre-back. Currently, he serves as the sporting director for Spartak Trnava, a prominent club in the Slovak First League.

Škrtel's football journey began with FK AS Trenčín and Zenit Saint Petersburg, but it was his transfer to Liverpool in January two thousand eight for a fee of six and a half million pounds that marked a significant turning point in his career. Over the course of eight and a half years with Liverpool, he made an impressive three hundred and twenty appearances and netted eighteen goals, solidifying his status as a key player.

In July two thousand sixteen, Škrtel took his talents to Fenerbahçe, further enhancing his legacy in the sport. His accolades include winning the Russian Premier League and the League Cup, alongside being honored as the Slovak Footballer of the Year on four occasions.

On the international stage, Škrtel made his debut for the Slovak national team in two thousand four, ultimately earning a total of one hundred and four caps. At the time of his retirement in two thousand nineteen, he was the third most-capped player in Slovakia's history, trailing only Marek Hamšík and Miroslav Karhan.
