Martiros Saryan, born on February sixteenth, eighteen eighty, was a prominent Armenian painter, illustrator, and politician. He is celebrated as the People's Artist of the USSR, a title he received in nineteen sixty, and was a distinguished member of the USSR Academy of Fine Arts since nineteen forty-seven. Saryan played a pivotal role in the establishment of a modern Armenian national school of painting and served as the president of the Artists' Union of Soviet Armenia from nineteen forty-five to nineteen fifty-one.

Originating from Nakhichevan-on-Don, Saryan's early education took place at the local school, followed by his graduation from the New Nakhichevan Russian-Armenian College. His artistic journey was profoundly influenced by his travels across Armenia and the Middle East, which inspired many of his works. After the establishment of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, he made a permanent move to Armenia, where his art flourished.
