Mary Bono, born on October twenty-fourth, nineteen sixty-one, is a prominent American politician, businesswoman, and lobbyist. She represented Palm Springs and much of central and eastern Riverside County, California, in the U.S. House of Representatives from nineteen ninety-eight until two thousand thirteen. Her political career began when she was elected to Congress to succeed her late husband, Sonny Bono, who passed away while in office.
During her tenure in Congress, Bono was an active member of the Republican Party and served on the Energy and Commerce Committee. She held the position of chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade, where she played a significant role in shaping legislation. Notably, in nineteen ninety-eight, she was part of the House Judiciary Committee that approved articles of impeachment against President Bill Clinton.
After losing her reelection bid in two thousand twelve, Bono transitioned to the private sector. In March two thousand thirteen, she took on the role of senior vice president at Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting, a federal affairs firm based in Washington, D.C. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish her own political affairs consulting firm, Integritas by Bono, in two thousand eighteen.
