Mary Jo Catlett, born on September second, nineteen thirty-eight, in Denver, Colorado, is a versatile American actress and comedian. She has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry, particularly as a voice actor. Catlett is best known for her role as Mrs. Puff on the beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, a character she has voiced since the show's inception in nineteen ninety-eight.

Before her iconic role in animation, Catlett showcased her talents on stage, originating the role of Ernestina in the 1964 Broadway production of Hello, Dolly! Her career spans several decades, during which she has performed in numerous Off-Broadway and Broadway musicals, often embracing lighthearted and humorous roles. Additionally, she portrayed Pearl Gallagher, the third housekeeper on the classic sitcom Diff'rent Strokes.

Throughout the late sixties and seventies, Catlett appeared in various television shows, including M*A*S*H, The Dukes of Hazzard, and General Hospital.
