Mary Washburn

Mary T. Washburn, born on August 4, 1907, was a distinguished American track and field athlete renowned for her prowess in sprinting events. Her athletic journey began at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she honed her skills and graduated in 1928. Following her time at DePauw, she furthered her education at New York University, earning her degree in 1929.

Washburn's athletic career reached a pinnacle when she represented the United States at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Competing in the prestigious 4 x 100 meters relay, she showcased her exceptional talent alongside teammates Jessie Cross, Loretta McNeil, and Betty Robinson. Their remarkable performance earned them a Silver medal, marking a significant achievement in her sporting career.
