Masaaki Suzuki

Masaaki Suzuki, born on April twenty-ninth, nineteen fifty-four, is a distinguished Japanese conductor, organist, harpsichordist, composer, and university educator. He is renowned for his role as the founder and music director of the Bach Collegium Japan, an ensemble dedicated to the performance and recording of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Under Suzuki's leadership, the Bach Collegium Japan has embarked on an ambitious project to record the complete choral works of Bach for the Swedish label BIS Records. This extensive undertaking also includes the recording of Bach's concertos, orchestral suites, and solo pieces for harpsichord and organ, showcasing Suzuki's deep commitment to the Baroque repertoire.

In addition to his work with the Bach Collegium, Suzuki serves as an artist-in-residence at Yale University, where he contributes to the musical education of students. He is also the principal guest conductor of Yale's Schola Cantorum, further solidifying his influence in the world of choral music. His conducting prowess has taken him to stages around the globe, where he has collaborated with various orchestras and choruses, earning acclaim for his interpretations and leadership.
