Masahiro Sakurai, born on August 3, 1970, is a renowned Japanese video game director and designer, celebrated for his innovative contributions to the gaming industry. He is best known as the creative force behind the beloved Kirby and Super Smash Bros. series, which have captivated audiences worldwide.
In addition to his iconic franchises, Sakurai played a pivotal role in the design of Meteos in 2005 and directed the critically acclaimed Kid Icarus: Uprising in 2012. His career began at HAL Laboratory, where he honed his skills before embarking on a new journey in 2003.
