Known for his agility and skill as a winger, he made significant contributions to several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), including the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, Winnipeg Jets, and Montreal Canadiens. His journey in hockey began in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Acadie–Bathurst Titan, where he showcased his talent over three seasons.
During his final year in the QMJHL, Perreault's exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Jean Béliveau Trophy, awarded to the league's top point-producer, and he was recognized with a spot on the Second-Team All-Star. This success paved the way for his professional career, which commenced in the two thousand seven to two thousand eight season with the Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears. There, he played a pivotal role in securing the Calder Cup in two thousand nine.
Perreault's tenure with the Capitals lasted until the two thousand thirteen to two thousand fourteen season, after which he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks.
