Matt Sorum, born on November nineteenth, nineteen sixty, is a renowned American drummer, recording artist, songwriter, and session musician. He first gained prominence as a member of the hard rock band The Cult, where he joined in nineteen eighty-nine to support their fourth studio album, Sonic Temple. His exceptional drumming skills caught the attention of Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, leading to his replacement of drummer Steven Adler in nineteen ninety.

During his seven-year tenure with Guns N' Roses, Sorum contributed to the iconic albums Use Your Illusion I and II, as well as The Spaghetti Incident? before departing in nineteen ninety-seven after a dispute with Axl Rose. In nineteen ninety-nine, he reunited with The Cult for their album Beyond Good and Evil and its subsequent tours, before co-founding the supergroup Velvet Revolver alongside former bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan. Velvet Revolver achieved commercial success with their albums Contraband and Libertad.

In addition to his work with these bands, Sorum has been a permanent member of the hard rock cover band Camp Freddy since two thousand three, collaborating with notable musicians like Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney. He also founded the touring project Kings of Chaos in two thousand twelve, featuring an impressive lineup of rock legends.
