Matt Stone

Matt Stone, born on May 26, 1971, is a multifaceted American animator, writer, producer, songwriter, filmmaker, and actor. He is widely recognized for co-creating the iconic animated television series South Park, which has been captivating audiences since its debut in 1997. Alongside his creative partner Trey Parker, Stone has also made significant contributions to the world of theater with the acclaimed stage musical The Book of Mormon, which premiered in 2011.

Stone's journey into the entertainment industry began at a young age, leading him to pursue studies in film and mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder. It was during this time that he met Parker, and together they embarked on various creative projects, including the feature-length musical Cannibal! The Musical in 1993. Their collaboration continued to flourish as they moved to Los Angeles, where they wrote their second film, Orgazmo, released in 1997.

The launch of South Park on Comedy Central in August 1997 marked a turning point in Stone's career, garnering widespread acclaim and establishing him as a prominent figure in animation. Following the show's success, he and Parker directed the feature film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut in 1999, which received positive critical feedback.
