Maud Lewis

Maud Lewis, born on March seventh, nineteen oh three, was a remarkable Canadian folk artist hailing from Nova Scotia. Despite living most of her life in poverty within a tiny house in Marshalltown, her artistic spirit flourished, allowing her to create vibrant and cheerful paintings that captured the essence of her native province.

Her artwork, characterized by landscapes, animals, and flowers, resonated with a nostalgic and optimistic vision, earning her national recognition in nineteen sixty-four and nineteen sixty-five. Although she never had a museum exhibition during her lifetime, her unique style and perspective have made her one of Canada's most celebrated folk artists.
