Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Maurice Bishop

Maurice Bishop, born on May twenty-ninth, nineteen forty-four, was a prominent Grenadian revolutionary and politician. He emerged as a key figure in the New JEWEL Movement (NJM), a political party dedicated to advancing socio-economic development, education, and the quest for true black liberation in Grenada.

On March thirteenth, nineteen seventy-nine, the NJM successfully came to power, marking the beginning of the Grenada revolution. This pivotal moment led to the establishment of the People's Revolutionary Government (PRG), which ousted Prime Minister Eric Gairy from his position. Bishop took the helm of the PRG, serving as Prime Minister from nineteen seventy-nine until nineteen eighty-three.

However, his tenure was cut short in October nineteen eighty-three when he was deposed and subsequently executed during a coup orchestrated by Deputy Prime Minister Bernard Coard. This internal conflict ultimately precipitated the downfall of the PRG, ending a significant chapter in Grenadian history.
