Maurice Côté

Maurice Côté, born on October eighth, nineteen seventeen, was a prominent figure in Canadian politics and finance. As a member of the Social Credit party, he served in the House of Commons, representing the Chicoutimi riding. His career spanned various roles, including stockbroker, investment counsellor, and real-estate agent, showcasing his diverse expertise in the financial sector.

Côté first entered the political arena when he was elected in the nineteen sixty-two general election. His victory in Chicoutimi marked the beginning of his political journey, which continued with his re-election in nineteen sixty-three. However, the tides turned in the nineteen sixty-five election when he ran as an independent candidate and faced defeat against Paul Langlois of the Liberal party.

During this election, the political landscape was further complicated by the presence of Majella Tremblay, who represented the Ralliement créditiste, the name adopted by the Social Credit party in Quebec at that time. Despite his earlier successes, Côté's subsequent attempts to reclaim his seat in Chicoutimi in nineteen seventy-two and nineteen seventy-four were unsuccessful, marking a challenging period in his political career.
