Mauro Zárate, born on March 18, 1987, is a former professional footballer from Argentina, renowned for his role as a forward. He began his illustrious career at Vélez Sarsfield, where he spent three years and celebrated a significant achievement by winning the Primera División title during the 2005 Clausura tournament.
In 2007, Zárate made a move to the Qatari club Al-Sadd, but his time there was brief, lasting only six months. He then transitioned to Birmingham City in England on loan. Following Birmingham's relegation, Zárate was loaned to Lazio in Italy, where he enjoyed considerable success, including winning the Coppa Italia. His impressive performances led to a permanent transfer to Lazio for a fee of around twenty million euros, which included a buy-out clause of sixty million euros.
After a loan spell at Inter Milan and a short return to Vélez Sarsfield, Zárate joined West Ham United in 2014. His first season saw him spend the latter half on loan at Queens Park Rangers. In January 2016, he signed with Fiorentina, and a year later, he returned to England, this time with Watford, in a deal worth two point three million pounds over two and a half years.
On the international stage, Zárate made his mark by scoring the decisive goal for the Argentina under-20 team in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup final, showcasing his talent on a global platform.
