Maxim Vengerov

Maxim Vengerov, a distinguished Soviet-born Israeli violinist, violist, and conductor, has captivated audiences worldwide with his extraordinary talent. Born in Novosibirsk on August twentieth, nineteen seventy-four, he was raised in a musically rich environment, being the only child of Aleksandr, an oboist, and Larisa Borisovna, who directed an orphanage children's choir. His musical journey began at the tender age of three, singing in his mother's choir, and by five, he was already taking violin lessons from Galina Turchaninova.

At just ten years old, Vengerov achieved a significant milestone by winning the 1984 International Karol Lipiński and Henryk Wieniawski Young Violin Player Competition, which marked the beginning of his illustrious career. He further honed his skills under the tutelage of Zakhar Bron, following him from the Soviet Union to the Royal Academy of Music in London and later to the Musikhochschule Lübeck in Germany. His talent was recognized again in nineteen ninety when he won the International Carl Flesch Competition, leading to a recording contract with Teldec and the launch of his international career.

In nineteen ninety, Vengerov and his family relocated to Israel, where he continued his studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. His commitment to music education led him to establish the Musicians of Tomorrow school in northern Israel in two thousand six. Vengerov's career extends beyond performance; he has served as the first chief conductor of the Menuhin Festival Gstaad Orchestra and has held professorships at prestigious institutions, including the Royal College of Music in London.

Throughout his career, Vengerov has received numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award and multiple Echo Music Prizes. He is known for his exceptional artistry and plays on the renowned 1727 'ex-Kreutzer' Stradivarius violin, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest violinists in the world, as noted by Classic FM.
