In two thousand six, Giroux gained recognition when his short film, The Days (Les Jours), won the award for best short film at the Toronto International Film Festival. The following year, his film Red (Le Rouge au sol) earned the accolade for Best Live Action Short Drama at the twenty-seventh Genie Awards, further establishing his reputation in the industry.
