He is celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to pop rap, with hit songs like 'U Can't Touch This', 'Pray', and '2 Legit 2 Quit'. Known for his flashy dance moves and extravagant choreography, Hammer also popularized the now-famous Hammer pants, becoming a cultural phenomenon in the early 1990s.

Before his rise to fame, Hammer served three years in the United States Navy. He launched his music career with the independent release of his debut album, 'Feel My Power', in nineteen eighty-six. His partnership with Capitol Records led to the release of 'Let's Get It Started' in nineteen eighty-eight, marking his first multi-platinum success. The following year, his album 'Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em' achieved diamond status, solidifying his place as one of the most prominent figures in the music industry.

Despite his initial success, Hammer faced challenges as the hip hop landscape evolved. Nevertheless, he continued to create music, releasing seven more albums and numerous songs after two thousand ten.
