Meena Kandasamy

Meena Kandasamy, born in 1984 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a multifaceted Indian poet, fiction writer, translator, and activist. Her literary journey began with the publication of her poetry collections, 'Touch' in two thousand six and 'Ms. Militancy' in two thousand ten, which have garnered critical acclaim and showcased her unique voice.

In addition to her poetry, Meena has made significant contributions to the literary community as an editor. From two thousand one to two thousand two, she served as the editor of 'The Dalit', a bi-monthly alternative English magazine under the Dalit Media Network, amplifying voices that often go unheard.

Her talent and dedication to literature have taken her beyond India’s borders. Meena represented her country at the prestigious University of Iowa's International Writing Program and was honored as a Charles Wallace India Trust Fellow at the University of Kent in Canterbury, United Kingdom.

Meena continues to engage with contemporary issues through her writing, contributing columns to notable platforms such as Outlook India and The Hindu, where she addresses social justice and cultural narratives.
