Megan Lukan, born on February 14, 1992, is a distinguished Canadian athlete known for her remarkable achievements in both rugby sevens and basketball. She began her athletic journey at the National Elite Development Academy, where she honed her skills in basketball, ultimately leading her to the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. There, she made her mark as a four-year starting guard for the Green Bay women's Division I basketball team, setting several records, including the most minutes played in a career and the most assists, a record that stood until it was surpassed by Bailey Butler in 2025.
After graduating in May 2015, Lukan transitioned to rugby union, a decision that would lead her to represent Canada on the international stage. In 2016, she was selected for Canada's inaugural women's rugby sevens Olympic team, competing at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where the team proudly secured a bronze medal, marking a significant milestone in her athletic career.
In recognition of her accomplishments, Lukan was chosen by the Canadian Olympic Committee in 2018 to receive sponsorship for the MBA program at Smith School of Business, Queen's University. This opportunity reflects her commitment to personal and professional growth beyond her athletic endeavors.
Family plays a significant role in Lukan's life, as her younger sister, Kaili Lukan, also excelled in basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and was a member of the Canada women's national rugby sevens team. As of 2019, Megan Lukan has chosen to retire from athletics, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in both sports.
