Mehdi Hasan, born on July 10, 1979, is a prominent British-American journalist and television presenter known for his incisive political reporting and engaging commentary. He is the founder of the media company Zeteo and has made significant contributions to various media outlets throughout his career.
Hasan's journey in journalism began at Christ Church, Oxford, where he honed his skills before stepping into the television industry. He started as a researcher and producer on ITV's Jonathan Dimbleby programme, later working with the BBC on The Politics Show. His career progressed as he took on the role of deputy executive producer for Sky's breakfast show Sunrise and then served as the editor of news and current affairs at Channel 4.
In 2009, he became the senior editor for politics at the New Statesman, and by 2012, he was presenting on Al Jazeera English. His move to Washington, D.C. in 2015 marked a new chapter, where he worked full-time for Al Jazeera, hosted the Deconstructed podcast for The Intercept, and presented The Mehdi Hasan Show on Peacock and MSNBC until its cancellation in November 2023.
As an accomplished author, Hasan penned Win Every Argument and co-authored a biography of Ed Miliband, the former Labour Party leader. He has also served as the political editor for the UK edition of The Huffington Post and hosted several Al Jazeera shows, including The Café and UpFront. Following his departure from MSNBC, he joined The Guardian as a columnist and launched Zeteo in February 2024, returning to host Head to Head in June of the same year.
